Prince Harry Says He Wants Peace With Royal Family Amid Security Dispute
In a BBC interview, Prince Harry expressed a clear desire to reconcile with the royal family, especially as his father, King Charles III, continues cancer treatment. “I don’t know how much longer my father has,” Harry said. “It would be nice to reconcile.”
His comments came just hours after losing his legal fight over automatic police protection in the U.K. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California with Meghan Markle and their two children, Harry has battled to regain full security during visits to Britain.
The British court upheld a case-by-case approach to his protection, calling it lawful given his changed status. Harry’s legal team argued the downgrade puts him and his family at risk, citing racism and extremist threats. He described the process as “exhausting and overwhelming.”
While Harry acknowledged in the interview that some family members may “never forgive” him — especially over his memoir Spare — he believes the security issue is the “last sticking point” standing in the way of peace.
